In what is being viewed as growing interest in Guyana as a tourist destination, another cruise ship, catering to high-end passengers, docked at the GNIC wharf at TCL, Lombard Street in Georgetown.
The French-flag carrier, Le Levant, spent a few hours and its passengers toured the city. The vessel is expected to return in November, according to Director of the Guyana Tourism Authority, Indranauth Haralsingh. This was revealed during a media tour of the impressive ship.
According to Van Damme Roger, Captain of Le Levant, some 34 passengers and 57 crewmembers were part of the cruise which came to Guyana from Grenada. The opulent cruise ship boasts top class dining facilities, sauna, exercising rooms, and top-deck pool and bar area.
According to the Captain, the ship will be calling on French Guiana, and cruise along the Amazon River.
Local tourism company,Wilderness Explorers, and N&M Shipping of the Neal and Massy Group, helped organise the trip.
