The murder in Port Kaituma two days ago has been added to the ever-growing list of those to be solved by the police. The body of 49-year-old Lawrence Martindale was found at the waterfront with at least two stab wounds.
According to a source close to the investigation, so far no one has come forward with any useful information. This newspaper was told that persons in the vicinity have all claimed that they did not see anything, but some did recall hearing screams from the location where the man’s body was found in the wee hours of Monday. However Kaieteur News understands that no one ventured out to see what was transpiring.
In the meantime, Martindale’s body was flown to the city late yesterday so that a post mortem examination can be performed some time later today.
The dead man’s wife, Lauren Martindale, lamented the fact that she is now left with five children to take care of on her own. She expressed that it is quite discouraging that no one has come forward with an helpful information.
Police are maintaining that the motive for the killing may have been robbery.
