Cell Phone Giants Digicel, The Bigger Better Network, has connected with the organisers of the inaugural Carib Flood Light Twenty20 cricket competition which is set to bowl off at the Bartica Community Centre Ground tomorrow. Digicel has joined with main sponsor Carib and a number of Bartica based businesses to ensure the success of this tournament, which is the first to be held under flood lights and promises to be a spectacular and exciting competition featuring eight (8) teams from the Essequibo Region.
The teams have been going through rigorous preparations over the past few weeks and according to the organisers, D and C Promotions, fans can look forward to pulsating rivalry as only the winners from all the games will advance, the champion team walking away with the top prize of $400,000 and trophy compliments of Carib.The losing finalist will be $200,000 richer compliments of Platinum Service Station and Spare Parts while the winner of the 3rd place game will walk away with $100,000 which has been put up jointly by Gold Target Export and Five Star Minerals. The 4th place team will pocket $20,000.
Opening action from 16:00hrs tomorrow brings together Pomeroon and North Essequibo with the main attraction between Bartica ‘A’ and East Bank Essequibo.
On Sunday, South Essequibo oppose Central Essequibo followed by a clash between Bartica ‘B’ and Wakenaam/Leguan Combine. Game time is 13:00hrs.
Meanwhile Minister Jennifer Westford is expected to declare the competition open tomorrow.
