Interdicted presidential guard, Marvin Taylor, made yet another appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry for the continuation of the two attempted murder charges against him.
Taylor is charged with attempting to kill his wife, Sharon Taylor, and her sister, Michelle Edwards, on January 26, last. The commencement of the preliminary inquiry was initially set for yesterday but the prosecution was in no position to start, hence the matter was adjourned for April 12. The accused was represented by defense counsel, Nigel Hughes, but the lawyer was absent during yesterday’s hearing.
However attorney at-law George Thomas was there yesterday. He informed the court that Taylor was granted bail in the High Court to the tune of $600,000.
Taylor was also charged with discharging a loaded firearm at Aubrey Smith, the man whom he alleges his wife was having an affair with.
Hughes, at the last hearing, renewed his bail application on the grounds that the defendant was not a flight risk, the accused was nevertheless remanded.
As Taylor made his way into the court, his wife, who has been discharged from the hospital, was present.
The allegation is that Taylor, on January 26, discharged a loaded firearm with the intent to maim, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm to Sharon Taylor, Michelle Edwards and Aubrey Smith.

Hughes added that it was Taylor’s wife who pushed him out of a window causing him to suffer a broken leg.
Sean Smith was also counting his lucky stars when his lawyer George Thomas made an oral submission for the charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking to be discharged against his client.
The matter was being heard before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. During yesterday’s hearing, Thomas indicated to the court that since his client was charged for the offence the prosecution has made no attempt to commence trial.
After listening to the counsel’s submission the Magistrate dismissed the case on the ground of want of prosecution.
On November 16, Smith was charged for having in his possession a quantity of marijuana and was denied bail. Thomas a few days after approached the High Court to secure bail for his client which was granted.
Sergeant Lionel Harvey at one of the hearings indicated to the court that the prosecution was prepared to call three witnesses to give evidence in chief. However no such witness to this date took to the witness stand.
