Three days after he went into hiding after killing 16-year-old, Manclik Matthews, in a hit and run accident on the La Belle Alliance, Public Road, 51-year-old Monty Blake, the driver, has been apprehended.
Police arrested the man, and detained and impounded his vehicle, HB 1816 at the Anna Regina Police Station, Friday evening. The man was found at Devonshire Castle, Essequibo Coast.
According to police, flakes of Blake’s shattered windscreen were collected by ranks the day after the accident. Blake, who previously told police during his interview that he had hit a cow, has confessed. He even told the ranks that “three of them were riding on a cycle.”
The 51-year-old will remain in custody until charges are laid against him. On February 23, last, around 1:00 hours, Blake was proceeding north in vehicle HB 1816, when he hit the trio from the back. The victims were also proceeding in the northern direction.
Manclik Matthews who bore the severity of the hit, died on the spot, while, Marks and Sakleen sustained injuries about their bodies.
