Dear Editor,
Teachers form the academic and intellectual vertebrae of our society. Their best students are the pride of their hearts.
During 1979 to 1981 as a first class trained Secondary Teacher, Lloyd Singh was my best biology student at Tutorial High School in Fifth Street Alberttown.
Not only was Lloyd Singh a student with a high degree of personal discipline and dignity, but his standard of intelligence was to a level whereby I, being a very stringent marker, was compelled to award no less than 80% percent to every test paper that I marked for Lloyd Singh who presently resides in Seaforth Street Campbellville.
Quite recently I passed Lloyd’s house early one morning and noticed him picking flowers for his routine Poojah, at the rising of the sun. On seeing this the pride of my heart swelled to see that Lloyd still had this degree of spirituality, despite the demands of his job of administrating his company, the International Pharmaceutical Agency (IPA).
Over the years I have known Lloyd Singh to be a decent, honest, hardworking gentleman with a high degree of loyalty to the ruling party and government of the day. In addition I recall that the IPA has contributed meaningful sponsorship to sports and athletes in Guyana and in this respect I am hopeful that the position of Aliann Pompey may be considered by IPA, a company which to my mind had shown exemplary entrepreneurship to this nation.
I find it most offensive to hear a politician, whose ears can be cartooned in resemblance to the goat of Memphis and are so big they cannot hear his own story, go on national television to label this upright son of Guyana of being a ‘Liar’. Where are the devout Hindus of Guyana?
