The Central Police Operational Youth Club (CPOYC) of New Amsterdam 2011 sports programme will continue with a 20/20 cricket competition, which will be played mainly among the joint services organization in Berbice, with a few civilian organizations being involved.
Action will commence on Saturday March 6 at the Scott Church ground, with a game between the CPOYC team and a team drawn from the Guyana Fire Service (GFS) Berbice operations.
According to Coordinator Sergeant Jairam Ramlakhan of the Central Police Station, other games will also be played. He said that they have decided to start their sports and community outreach programme early following a successful year in 2010 they have decided to keep the momentum going so as to keep the interest.
In Saturday’s game the winning team will collect $30,000 and a trophy while there will be a number of individual prizes on offer including the MVP, best batsman, best bowler, best fielder, most sixes among other incentives.
