Race walkers will be in action once again when the Cavalier’s Sports and Tour Club (CSTC) brings the curtains down on activities planned to commemorate Mashramani activities with a race walk in the mining town of Linden this Sunday February 27.
Race walkers are asked to convene at the Amelia’s Ward junction at 06:00hrs on race day for a prompt start at 06:30hrs. They would proceed to the Bayroc Recreational Center, Wisroc for the grand finish.
Once again, the athletes would be competing for trophies and medals donated by members of the corporate community and friends of the organisation.
Meanwhile, coordinator of the CSTC, Ms Maria Nelson is making an impassioned plea for improved assistance from the business community, Government and other interested individuals with a desire to contribute to the development of the sport.
The CSTC coordinator pointed out that ever since the inauguration of her organisation, local race walkers have become involved in gainful activity which has served to keep them on the right side of the law. “Any level of support garnered from the business community or the government would assist in our continued works,” assured Ms Nelson.
