Despite the inclement weather the Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) in the quest to spread the game in Berbice is set to participate in two different exhibition activities on Mash Day today Wednesday.
Making use of the holiday, one such activity will take place in the remote district of Mara, East Bank Berbice, while the other will be held at Rose Hall Town Hard Court after that community Mash Tramp which is slated for that day.
According to BVA’s president, Gregory Rambarran, the association, despite the inclement weather is making full use of the holiday and if any play is possible they will stage the games.
The Rose Hall Town Court is a hard court and as long as the rain subsides play will be possible.
Mara, which is a farming community some 25 miles from New Amsterdam, will be launching a Sports Club “Mara Perseverance Sports Club,” on the same day and the opportunity will be taken to play some games and make an early impression.
A number of Volleyball teams in Berbice have consented to be a part of the activities at the two venues and to play a series of exhibition games. Among them are Albion United, Port Mourant Jaguars, and Guysuco Training Center all teams from Corentyne, they will participate in the activities at Rose hall Town.
While Rollers from New Amsterdam, Falcons and Eaglets, both from Canje will engage in the activities at Mara for their launching.
Meanwhile, the Association has fixed March 21st for the playing off of the previously postponed two-a-side beach volleyball competition which was rescheduled from last Sunday due to the inclement weather.
That activity which is sponsored by DDL under its Mineral Water Brand will be held at the No63 Beach.
