Keen rivalry anticipated in 2011 edition
Sports has forever been proven to be a positive motivator in the workplace and the Ministry of Home Affairs Inter Agency Dominos competition is a very good example of this.
Yesterday at the Police Sports Club Eve Leary, Digicel made a profound statement in support of this event when they officially handed over the Lien Trophy for the Ministry of Home Affairs Inter Agency Dominos Tournament which was a big hit in 2010 among the Guyana Police Force, Guyana Fire Service and the Guyana Prison Service.
In handing over the main trophy for the 2011 edition of the tournament which commenced yesterday, Digicel’s Events and Sponsorship Manager, Former National Hockey player Gavin Hope said that his company recognizes the importance that sport plays in the development of healthy relationships among workers.
“We have been following the progress of this tournament in2010 and we had no hesitation in coming on board when we were approached to do so in 2011. We have always been in the forefront of encouraging sports among entities which we know helps to promote healthy relationships among workers. We wish the various entities competing will compete in the spirit of goodwill and may the best team come out victorious.”
Coordinator of the tournament, Ovid Glasgow in response thanked Digicel for their partnership in making the tournament even more successful than last year.
The Guyana Police Force are the defending champions of the tournament which commenced yesterday at the Police Sports Club Eve Leary and will be played on the second Friday of each month during the year.
The team with the most wins at the end of the year will be declared the overall champions. The Guyana Fire Service, which was the runner-up team last year, will be aiming to replace Police as the champion team this time around while the Guyana Prison Service will sure hope to emerge from their cells to make an impact in the tournament after placing in the cellar position last year.
