– NSC Mashramani challenge starts today
On the heels of the annual National Sports Commission (NSC)/Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Mashramani tournament, which starts this afternoon at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, a group of players from Queens College had internal preparations.
Queens College commenced an Inter-Form Table Tennis (TT) tournament earlier this week with some of those players likely to compete over this weekend in the first major tournament on the GTTA calendar this year.
Speaking briefly with national table tennis coach, Linden Johnson yesterday, it was revealed that over 100 players have so far registered to compete this weekend. He informed that the challenge starts with the U-8 and U-10 categories this afternoon.
Johnson said a more lengthy session was on the cards for this afternoon, but because of activities related to the Mashramani schools dance competition, the facility is unavailable until later in the afternoon. He said the Opening Ceremony will be held tomorrow.
