The long outstanding and productive partnership between corporate entity Farfan & Mendes and the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club was strengthened for another year on Thursday last when the Georgetown based company renewed its sponsorship of the Club’s Under-15 team for the 15th successive year.
The company first sponsored the team in 1997 and ever since then the RHT Farfan & Mendes Under-15 team has developed into one of the leading teams at its age group level in Berbice – winning several championships and producing numerous national and Berbice players.
RHTY&SC Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster praised Farfan & Mendes for its continued investment in the club and for the role it has played in the development of many young cricketers.
The team over the years has won the Berbice championship three times and has produced a total of eleven (11) Under-15 national players and 27 for Berbice. Among the players produced under the sponsorship are Assad and Abdel Fudadin, Delbert Hicks, Royston Crandon, Dominic Rikhi, Shawn Pereira, Parmanand Narine, Murphy La Rose and Shevon Marks.
The team is currently the defending Under-15 champions of Berbice and to date has reached the quarterfinals of the current tournament.
Captain of the team Arif Chan expressed gratitude to the long serving sponsor and for the role they continue to play in developing the career of the young players.
He also pledged that the team would continue its rich tradition of success.
