Stag Beer Inter Ward street football set to ignite Linden
Event to be launched on Tuesday
The Bauxite Mining Town of Linden will come alive when the Stage Beer Inter Ward 7-a-side Street Football competition kicks off on February 14.
The competition is expected to be keen among the many teams that are expected to face off for the top prize of $200,000. A second place prize of $100,000 is guaranteed with the winner of the third place collecting $50,000.
Speaking on behalf of organisers, Young Achievers Group and 20/20 Sports Bar, Anthony White said the Inter Ward knockout format is being used to get mass participation and to afford more players the opportunity of taking part.
Competing areas include Central Mackenzie, Christianburg/Blueberry Hill, Amelia’s Ward, Poker Street Flat, Mines, Wisroc/Block22 and Half Mile/One Mile which will all front four teams each.
White noted that Ansa McAl Trading is the lone sponsor of the event. Teams will pay a registration fee of $2,000 to participate in the competition which will be launched on Tuesday February 7, at the 20/20 Sports Bar in Linden.
