Thirty-seven year-old Clarence Williams, called Wild Hog, of Angoy’s Avenue, who is before the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on a number of charges has written to the Chancellor of the Judiciary, asking that his matters be tried before anyone other than Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo.
He is citing what he calls undue delay and a number of other issues.
Williams, whose charges include sacrilege, robbery, possession of housebreaking implements and break and enter and larceny committed during April and May 2009, is also charged with escaping from lawful custody while being a prisoner at the New Amsterdam prison.
He allegedly escaped between June 1 and June 2, 2009. He had dug himself out of his cell and scaled the fence before making good his escape.
Williams had fled to neighbouring Suriname where he was recaptured and brought back to Guyana. While on remand, he also assaulted a police officer.
When the matter was called on Monday, Magistrate Nagamootoo informed Williams that she could not proceed because she had not heard from the Chancellor concerning his request.
Williams then started to behave in a disorderly manner. He broke into an expletive-laden tirade at the top of his voice and even directed some of his comments to the Magistrate.
He then challenged everyone in the courtroom. He was quickly subdued and taken out of the court.
