When play in the Trophy Stall sponsored Inter-Jamaat 10overs tapeball cricket competition continued at the Muslim Youth Organisation Ground on Sunday last; Farm, MYO, Lusignan and LBI ‘A’ all recorded victories.
LBI ‘A’ did not have to break a sweat to notch up their win since their intended opponents, Mocha, failed to put in an appearance.
Lusignan eased to a comfortable 8 wicket win over LBI ‘B’, notching up 85 for 2 in response to LBI’s total of 84 for 7. The losers batted first and posted their eventual total with Brother Fernando striking 33 and Faizul Ali 19. Asif Ally was the leading bowler for Lusignan as they reached their winning target comfortably, Javed Khan leading the way with an unbeaten 39.
Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) were in rampaging mood disposing of New Mosque by 10 wickets.
The home team in very dismissive fashion blasted their way to 76 without loss in response to New Mosque’s 74 for 8 off their 10 overs. Shaheed Gittens 32* and Zulfikar Ali 28* were the architects of the run chases.
When New Mosque batted Toney Ramjewan was the only batter who managed to negotiate the MYO bowling with his innings of 27 in his teams’ total of 74 for 8. Gittens, Azad Azeez and Fazal Nazeem each took two wickets for MYO.
And Farm’s total of 75 for 6 proved not to be enough against Grove, the latter responding with 77 for 4 off just 6.3 overs; Shafeek Azad 23* and Muhammad Nizamuddeen 20 led the run chase for the winners.
When Farm batted, Yunus Mohammed was the main contributor with 33 with the main wicket taker for Grove being Shameer Hussain with 3 for15. Ricky Sergeant picked up 2-14 when Grove responded.
