$300,000 in hygienic & educational kits presented
The National Under-20 football team on Monday were recognised by the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club for their efforts in the just concluded CONCACAF qualifying stage two which was held in Suriname.
Despite not qualifying for the CONCACAF Finals set for Guatemala in April, the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club said that they are still happy to support the young Guyana team which have a bright future.
“We have been following the progress of this team ever since the first round which was held in Guyana and while you have not moved on we would still like to recognize your efforts for your nation,” Club Secretary and CEO Hilbert Foster said.
The players and management team dropped in at the Club located at the Rose Hall on the Corentyne on their way home from Suriname on Monday.
The travelling team was presented with hygienic, educational and newborn kits valued at over $300,000.
Making the presentation to Captain of the team Colin Nelson was Honorary Member of the Club and President of the Guyana Teachers Union, Colin Bynoe who encouraged the players to keep aiming high and to be disciplined on and off the field at all times.
Bynoe encouraged the players to ensure that make their education a priority and to respect each other.
Nelson offered words of thanks to the RHTY&SC for their timely gesture.
