Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Water Inc. (GWI), Yuri Chandisingh, is set to step down from the helm of that state-owned agency.
GWI officials confirmed that Chandisingh, who was appointed to that post in early 2009 following the sacking of Karran Singh, has signaled his intentions to leave and from all indications will be “joining his family abroad”.
The son of former PNCR Minister, Ranji Chandisingh, took over GWI in March 2009 after Singh and Head of Procurement, Dhani Narine, were reportedly fired for alleged mismanagement.
There were accusations at that time that procurement procedures were breached and an interim management team, headed by Chandisingh, then the Director of Operations, was appointed to manage the utility company.
