A Cessna 206 operated by domestic airline, Oxford Aviation, yesterday crash-landed on the Baramita airstrip in the North West District. The incident occurred at around 09:35hrs.
Kaieteur News understands that only the pilot, Christopher George, was aboard at the time of the accident. Fortunately, he escaped unharmed.
The six-seater single-engine plane which reportedly departed at 08:15hrs was transporting cargo.
Officials of the airline told this publication that an investigative team has been deployed to the location. As such, no detailed information was yet available indicating what may have caused the incident.
A preliminary assessment indicates that the propeller and nose-gear of the aircraft were damaged.
This marks the second time an Oxford Aviation aircraft has been damaged as a result of an accident in the interior within the last five months.
On August 21, last year, the pilot and passengers of another Cessna 206 escaped with minor injuries after the aircraft skidded off the runway while departing from Ekereku in Region Seven.
