The Peoples National Congress Reform (PNCR) yesterday filled its vacant seat in the National Assembly with one of the party stalwarts, Joan Baveghems. The new Member of Parliament took her oath of office yesterday.
This newspaper understands that Baveghems was chosen by Corbin because he wanted someone who could motivate from the grass root level to the Parliamentary level.
Baveghems has been involved in all activities of the PNCR for more than 40 years during which her militancy in advancing the cause of the Party and of the working class of Guyana has been acknowledged by party and non-party members alike. “The PNCR congratulates Baveghems on her elevation to high office. It is confident that she will continue to be a militant activist of the working class and will remain in the forefront of advocacy for their causes,” according to a statement from the party.
Corbin also reshuffled the portfolios in his camp just prior to the budget debates that will kick off on Monday.
