Some villages along the East Coast of Demerara are currently without the use of the landline telephones as vandals have once again struck.
According to Public Relations Officer for the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T), Allison Parker, sometime during last week they began receiving calls from persons along the East Coast of Demerara, mainly in Vryheid’s Lust, about the disruption of service. Parker said that checks by technical personnel revealed that cables in the area had been vandalised. The PRO said that works to repair the cables have begun and are expected to be completed sometime later this week.
The Company has, in the past, continually urged citizens in all areas where communication equipment have been deployed for their use, to be vigilant in the face of these acts by persons bent on causing them inconvenience.
