Two Trinidad and Tobago players, Sheldon Bateau (San Juan Jabloteh) and Daneil Cyrus (FC Santa Rosa on loan to Caledonia AIA) have been invited by Sporting Kansas City to that club’s 2011 pre-season training, due to begin on January 24.
Both players impressed in trial matches during Sporting’s visit to Trinidad in December 2010, which was organised by FC Santa Rosa.
They have both participated in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup (South Korea 2007) and the FIFA Under-20 World Championship (Egypt 2009).
Bateau is the captain of the national Under-20 team, while Cyrus represents the country at Under-21 and senior levels.
Seven Guyanese players were also part of the trials, Richie Richards and Chris Camacho (Alpha United); Clive Andries and Devor Dennis (Buxton United); Clive Nobrega and Ryan Crandon (Milerock FC) and National Under-20 Captain, Colin Nelson of Beacon.
The visit of the players to Trinidad was facilitated by the Kashif & Shanghai Organisation.
