James Bond, David Granger, Carl Greenidge, Dr Faith Harding, Bishwaishwar “Cammie” Ramsaroop and Basil Williams are the final six nominees approved by the Central Executive Committee of the People’s National Congress Reform to contest for the slot of Presidential Candidate.
The Party General Secretary Oscar Clarke announced this yesterday during the party’s first press briefing for 2011.
Ramsaroop has since withdrawn his nomination.
Clarke said that the Party’s Presidential Candidate Process Committee met for its first meeting for the year 2011 on Tuesday last and reviewed the position with respect to responses received from the nine nominees, who had previously indicated their acceptance of the nomination, and submitted their relevant Curriculum Vitae and Bio Data by the closing date January 3, 2011.
“Six of the nine nominees had so responded and the Committee proceeded to evaluate those responses…They were all found to be in order in every material particular and as a consequence, were recommended to the Central Executive Committee as being suitable Candidates.
The Central Executive Committee meeting of Wednesday last received the Report of the Committee and approved of the recommendations.
The nominees will soon meet and sign on to a code of conduct as it relates to their behaviour whilst pitching their cases in the Town Hall styled meetings that will be held for the candidates.
Bond is currently a practising Attorney-at-Law, Granger is a former Army Brigadier, Greenidge and Dr Harding are both former ministers and Williams is the current Vice Chairman of the PNCR.
