Due to the inclement weather the finals of the Dr. Noel Blackman birthday 7-a-side football tournament has been put on hold until there is some improvement.
This event was scheduled for the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) Ground, Bourda, but the current rainfall has put a damper on the venue being ready for this and other events scheduled.
Coordinator Lennox Arthur said he was informed by the management of the GFC of the situation there and that the venue needed several sunny days to be firm enough to accommodate the action.
When the tournament resumes, 12 teams remain in the reckoning and will battle in an eliminator for the top prize on offer.
Their names will be randomly pulled from a bag and this process will continue until the final paring is determined.
The 12 teams remaining are; Mocha, Alexander Village, Sophia, North East LaPenitence, Broad Street, Pouderoyen, Grove, Lima Dam, Kuru Kururu, Timehri, Charlotte Street and Tiger Bay.
At stake for the winner of the competition is $100,000, while $50,000 goes to the runner-up along with the Dr. Blackman trophies.
