…drags wounded victim out of ambulance, chops him again
Ivelaw Archer, a 59-year-old man of 45 Half Mile, Wismar, Linden, yesterday found out to his dismay that a hospitable nature can sometimes land people in ‘hot water’ and even cost them their lives.
He almost lost his at the hands of a man whom he had provided with shelter.
According to Archer, who is in a serious but stable condition at the Linden Hospital Complex, he was attacked by his paramour’s ‘child-father’, after he went to a house he had built for the woman, and where the other man lodges whenever he comes out of the interior.
Archer said that he is in the business of construction and Carlotta Bethune, the mother of his child, works with him.
According to Archer, he had gone to pick up Bethune at the house in Block 22 when he was attacked by the man and stabbed viciously about the body with a knife and chopped with a cutlass.
Archer claimed that his attacker also has a child with Bethune, and that whenever he comes out of the interior the man would stay at the house, which he (Archer) built for the woman.
“She tell me the man ain’t got nowhere to stay, and asked whether he could stay at the house. I agreed, so he started to stay.”
The man says he believes the attack stemmed from jealousy as the man had wanted to resume a sexual relationship with his reputed wife but the woman refused.
Archer said the man told him, “I gon get rid of you,” before proceeding to stab and chop him.
Persons in the vicinity ran away, as they were afraid of the suspect, who is reportedly an ex-convict, according to Archer; and even after he was placed in the ambulance his attacker dragged him out and recommenced his cutlass attack, Archer said.
“From all appearances the man meant to kill me”, Archer related.
Archer survived and was subsequently taken to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he is in a stable condition.
