Police are awaiting the results of a post mortem examination to ascertain how one of their own met his death early yesterday morning at the Bartica Hospital.
Thirty-eight year-old Lance Corporal 15718 Lester Anthony Williams died around 04:30 hours after complaining of feeling unwell, with a pain in his stomach.
Williams was taken to the Bartica Public Hospital from the Bartica Police Station at around 4:00 am yesterday.
Divisional Commander David Ramnarine told this newspaper last night that there was no sign of foul play with regards to Williams’s death, but they are awaiting the post mortem examination to conclude investigations.
Williams, who hails from New Amsterdam, Berbice, and has been attached to the Guyana Police Force for almost 16 years, was seen watching a football game at the Bartica Community Centre ground with friends the night before his death.
