In another solid demonstration of its commitment to sports across Guyana, Digicel added its name to the list of corporate entities to support the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club Boxing Day Meeting when Public Relations and Events Manager Shonnet Moore presented a cheque worth $330,000 to Club Representative Justice Cecil Kennard in the Company’s Boardroom yesterday.
Moore speaking shortly after the presentation said that the Company was once again pleased to be supporting the club, adding that it was not the first time that the entity has benefitted from their goodwill.
“Digicel is one of the leading corporate sponsors in Guyana and even though this occasion is about horse racing we’ve also done similar presentations to sports such as table tennis, Squash, golf and many others,” Moore stated.
She disclosed that Digicel has made significant contributions towards the development of sports in Guyana and they intend to continue to do so in the future.
Kennard in his response thanked the Company for its continued support towards the horse racing industry, reminding that not only his club benefits from their munificence, but almost the entire sports industry.
“Their relationship started with us last December and since that time, we’ve had consistent support from them, while they’ve also ventured into assisting with community projects as well,” Kennard mentioned.
He said he is optimistic that the current friendship between the two entities will be strengthened in the future, while he wished everyone a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Meanwhile, according to Kennard the track up at Bush Lot Farm is expected to be fast and dry after a cessation of the rainy weather so fans could expect some exciting races.
Digicel has sponsored the race for Guyana bred horses and so far ten horses have entered including Royal Salute, Cash Connection, Speed Vision, and Water Wave among others.
The winner of this event over 9 furlongs will receive $200,000 and a trophy.
