The public is being advised to take all necessary precautions during the spring tide period of December 19, through December 27, 2010.
The predicted tide indicates above normal levels for the impending period. Persons living in the following low-lying areas are asked to take extra precautions.
This is according to the Ministry of Public Works and Communication – Works Services Group/Sea Defence Division.
The locations that would be affected on the East Bank Demerara are, Riverview, Ruimveldt, Bagotstown, Herstelling/Farm, Craig, Diamond, and Friendship, while on the East Coast Demerara residents of Helena/Mosquito Hall, Mahaica , Better Hope, Montrose, and Vryheid’s Lust are asked to take the same precautions.
Some of the villages on the West Coast Demerara and West Bank Demerara, that might be affected are; Vive La Force, Catherina/Lorenzo, Vriesland Wales/Patentia, Sister’s Village, Belle Vue, Bagotville/La Grange, Schoonard/Good Fortuin, Pouderoyen/Versailles, Vreed-en-Hoop/Plastic City, West Coast Demerara.
On the Essequibo coast villages that will be affected are Leguan, Verouw, Anna Regina, Henrietta, Maryville, La Bagatelle. In addition, villages on the East Coast Berbice that will be affected are; Goed Bananen Land , Friends, Brothers, Lansdale, Heatburn, and Glasgow.
