Less sound clashes for Boxing Day’s Main Big Lime
As the holidays approach, the annual Main Big Lime which is set for December 26, will be starting at 14:00hrs and will continue until 23:00 hours.
Thousands of persons are expected to attend. Security is a priority and would be of utmost importance, since the commander of ‘A’ Division and his team along with the city council will be enforcing the rules and regulations at the event, according to Minister of Tourism, Manniram Prashad.

Prashad said the event is a lime and not an exhibition; however, there will be some arts and craft from people who exhibit in the area throughout the year.
However, the Minister said that booths are going to be placed along Main Street and not in the middle of the avenue; this is in order to ensure the smooth flow of traffic. To avoid sound clashes and confusion, the number of music systems has been reduced. These will be placed strategically at various points of Main Street.
Ansa McAl would be occupying the circle once again. Other corporate citizens will also assist the Ministry of Tourism in lighting up the surrounding including trees. Such entities will be Guyana Revenue Authority, Ministry of Finance, New Thriving, Courts and DDL.
Minister Prashad said that his Ministry is looking forward to a much bigger and brighter Main Big Lime this year, as they have been getting positive responses from people in the diaspora including United States, St. Lucia, Antigua, Suriname and Barbados, who are eager to come back home to meet their friends and families.
“We are looking forward to a very good, successful and secure Main Big Lime as in the past,” Prashad uttered.
