A detective accused of raping a juvenile about a year ago is now in custody for sodomising a 21-year-old woman at the Turkeyen Police Station, Thursday night.
Kaieteur News understands that the woman was taken to the Turkeyen Police Station around 21:00 on Thursday for alleged simple larceny. She alleged that about an hour later, a detective who was on duty at the location threatened to lock her up.
It is alleged that he then took her into the CID office and removed a condom from a desk drawer and ordered the woman to follow him. He reportedly then took the woman to the Radio Room, where he had sex with the detained woman against her will. The detective reportedly then released the woman after instructing her to return to the station the following day.
However, the woman told a cousin about the incident and, on the cousin’s advice, reported the matter at CID Headquarters, Eve Leary. The detective was subsequently detained.
Some of the detective’s colleagues said that he had sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl at another location about a year ago, after the teen was picked up for wandering.
However, no investigation was conducted and the detective was subsequently promoted to the rank of corporal.
Meanwhile, a police constable seconded to the Impact patrol is in similar trouble for allegedly touching another woman in an inappropriate manner. That incident allegedly occurred on Thursday at the Police Mobile Patrol Outpost in Water Street.
Kaieteur News understands that the woman who made the allegation once worked as a cleaner with the Guyana Police Force. According to police sources, the woman went to the Police Mobile Outpost on Thursday night after police picked up her son and two other children for wandering.
The lad was subsequently released but while the mother was about to leave the outpost, a police constable allegedly called her back. He reportedly then told the woman that he had done a lot for her and that the woman should return the favour. It is alleged that he then ‘braced’ the woman against the outpost step, while asking her if she was feeling anything.
The following day, the woman and her husband reported the incident at the Police Complaints Authority.
They were then sent to Impact Base at the Brickdam Police Station, where they made a second report.
Kaieteur News understands that the rank is still to be arrested.
Some of the constable’s colleagues suggested that he might have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, since he is often seen drinking heavily while on duty at the outpost.
