Information Liaison to the President, Kwame McCoy, yesterday confirmed that the eprocure.gov.gy website where the government posts its advertisements and notices had been hackled and had been down for several days now.
According to McCoy, their Information Technology professionals are working on the problems and the website is expected back up in a few days.
Several Government websites have been hacked in recent days including that of the Government Information Agency and the Website dedicated to the Low Carbon Development Strategy.
When the LCDS website was hacked, upon access to the site it was playing Islamic music, the website www.lcds.gov.gy scrolled the words “Saudi Arabia Hackers” and “hacked by Net Devil.”
That was the latest Guyana Government website to have been hacked in recent times; the others being those belonging to the Office of the President and the Government Information Agency (GINA).
Those sites have since been rescued and are fully functional again.
