The police were summoned to rescue a businessman and his employees after bandits locked them in a bond, following a brazen robbery on Tuesday night.
The businessman, Dijay Arlani, of Campbellville, was supervising the offloading of a container by his six employees when two masked bandits attacked them.
Reports reaching this newspaper stated that the container was being off loaded in front of a bond at 19 First Street, Campbellville, when the two bandits came from an unknown direction, with their guns in their hands and ordered the victims and owner to go into the bond.
The victims complied and were relieved of their personal belongings, including cash and their cellular phones.
The bandits then locked their victims in the bond and escaped.
Fortunately, the businessman managed to conceal his phone from the bandits; this he used to contact the police while they were locked in the bond.
Ranks turned up and freed the shocked victims but by then the bandits had vanished.
Meanwhile, police in South Georgetown are on the hunt for a gunman who they suspect is the same person that committed two robberies on Tuesday night.
In the first case which occurred around 19:30 hours, the gunman robbed 63-year-old overseas-based Guyanese, Rachel John, at 279 Meadow Brook Gardens. John was relieved of five gold rings, a gold chain and $1500
Reports stated that John was walking along Meadow Brook Drive on her way home, when the suspect first rode past her.
He then jumped off his bicycle and took out a handgun from his pants waist, pointed it at the elderly woman and proceeded to relieve her of the articles before escaping.
It is believed that three hours later the same man robbed 17-year-old Sumar Maxwell of his cellular phone and $1500 cash.
Maxwell, of 213 Festival City, was heading home when the suspect rode up from behind, took out a handgun from his pants waist, and pointed it at the victim.
The man then came off his bicycle and took away the items from Maxwell and escaped.
And as if armed robbery was the order of the day, the police are also investigating another armed robbery this time on 48-year-old Raphael Maers, an electrician of David Rose Street, South Ruimveldt.
Maers was robbed of a gold band, a gold chain about 00:30 hours on Mandela Avenue by two men, one of whom was armed with a gun.
Maers was riding his bicycle along Mandela Avenue, and as he turned south on Plaza Bridge, the suspects who were on a motorcycle CD 8359 suddenly appeared from an alleyway.
The pillion rider drew a handgun from his pants waist and pointed it at Maers, causing him to stop.
They then robbed the victim and rode away.
The incidents occurred despite the police boasttrols in the city.
