– On board for Port Mourant Race Meeting this Sunday
Digicel preserved its reputation as one of the leading corporate entities in the development of sport with another act of goodwill through the sponsorship of the I3 Maiden J & Lower for this Sunday’s Port Mourant Turf Club Horse Race Meeting which will be held, at the club’s Headquarters in East Berbice.
Yesterday in the Company’s Boardroom, Public Relations and Events Manager Shonnet Moore presented a cheque worth $250,000 to Secretary of the Port Mourant Turf Club (PMTC) Chattergoon Ramnauth, who thanked Digicel for its continued support for the industry.
“I would like to express thanks on behalf of the club to Digicel, a Company that has stood with the sport at a time when sponsorship is getting difficult to obtain,” Ramnauth said.
Moore in her response spoke of the entity’s record in terms of its support for the sport, adding that they will continue to offer their support in the future.
The programme for the day will see eight races carded with the 3 years old open being the feature event and the 2 years old Open for West Indian and Guyana bred horses slated as the co-feature.
According to Ramnauth, the Course is closed due to the heavy rains that have drenched the East Berbice area, but spectators could expect some keen races among some of the best horses in the country.
He added that entries closed on December 4 and a day of exciting racing is anticipated.
