Defending Ladies Singles champion Berbician Carol Humphrey easily disposed of junior champion Krystal Sukra to retain her Pegasus Open Tennis Championships title yesterday, at the Hotel’s Hardcourts.
Humphrey defeated Sukra in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 to ink her name one more time on the Lien Trophy.
Speaking after the game, Humphrey said that it was unfortunate that young Sukra had to come up against her, but because of her age there will be many more chances for her to come through and win at the senior level.
Sukra in her defence described her performance as disappointing, but reckoned that the lack of preparation leading up to the final might have affected her game.
She too agreed that many more chances will come her way to battle for the coveted senior crown.
Meanwhile, in the Men’s Over-45 Singles, Harry Panday beat Steven David-Longe 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 in a marathon battle.
The presentation of prizes will be done on a date to be announced later.
