A female postal employee was battling for her life at the Mackenzie Hospital after an in-law threw a lighted kerosene stove on her.
Ayana Noble, 23, of One Mile, Wismar, suffered second and third degree burns to the face, arms, chest and back during the vicious attack, which occurred at around 13:00 hrs.
The suspect, a security guard, has been taken into custody.
Both women live in a tenement yard at Blue Berry Hill and sources said that there has been bad blood between them for years, with the victim, who is employed at the Mackenzie Post Office, bearing the brunt of the torment.
According to reports, Noble’s in-law began taunting her early yesterday morning, and Noble reportedly told her in-law that she would confront her after coming from work.
Kaieteur News understands that on leaving work yesterday afternoon, Noble confronted the in-law.
The quarrel escalated, and Noble was standing in the tenement yard when the suspect threw the lighted stove on her.
With her uniform on fire, the badly burned Noble reportedly ran into a relative’s apartment.
She was rushed to the Mackenzie Hospital, while her assailant, who reportedly remained at the scene, was placed in police custody.
