Former national Open Singles champion Norman Madhoo was once again in a devastating mood after playing unbeaten to capture the Open Singles category, then teamed up with Anil Lachman to emerge victorious in the Draw Doubles when action in the Grovers Sports Club sponsored Darts Tournament was contested last Sunday at their venue, 219 Second Street, Grove Housing Scheme with two categories.
Madhoo easily disposed of Colin France by a 3-0 margin in the final after taking care of Vibert Yearwod in the semifinal. In the other semifinal France took care of Anil Lachman.
The combination of Madhoo and Lachman disposed of Mark Persaud and Ricardo Baker in the final of the Draw Doubles. Both finalists won their semifinals matches over Francis Corriea and Anup Lachman, along with Colin France and Vijai Basdeo respectively. The special prizes of the Highest Checkout 142 points and the 180 prize were won by Colin France and Anil Lachman respectively.
Meanwhile, when play continued on Friday, November 26 at the Malteenoes Sports Club, Thomas Lands, with the club sponsoring the Open Singles Tournament, Anthony Bissoondyal won his first title after taking care of Sherwyn Greene in the final. The losing semifinalists were Mark Persaud and Nicholas Seecharran. Greene won the individual prize for the Highest Checkout with a 135 finish.
Darts action continues today at the Power Darts Club, School Street, Grove E.B.D, from 19:00 hrs. An Open Singles and a Draw Doubles are the two categories to be contested which is being sponsored by the host. Trophies and cash incentives are up for grabs.
