Dear Editor,
Many Christians might be familiar with Job 1:21 from the King James Version of the Bible in which Job cried out, “…the Lord giveth and Lord taketh away”.
Guyana was given a very brilliant, honest, hardworking and dedicated patriot in Mr. Winston Murray.
One can arguably state that Murray dedicated his entire life to the Guyanese people through his sterling political career. As I would have written before and as many would know, Winston Murray was a man of very high principle who cloaked himself daily with impermeable integrity.
As a learned scholar of economics, attorney, politician, father, friend and patriot, Mr. Winston Murray did his work on earth in service to the Guyanese people, the best way he could. As a humble servant he did whatever was asked of him providing it was morally right.
And just as the good Lord gave us Mr. Murray, he gently called him away to do his bidding in heaven. Winston has left but certainly will not and should not be forgotten.
His close friends and party comrades with whom he would have shared his love and vision for this nation, should honour this great man; their friend; their comrade and ensure they carry out the work he began in ensuring Guyana is rescued from its free-fall into the violent abyss of full-blown dictatorial politics.
As we celebrate the life of Winston Murray, let us all recommit ourselves to working towards the greater good of this nation. Share in the dream of this great Guyanese son. We all need to help bring the change he so badly wanted. We all need to make his dream of political change in Guyana a reality!
Richard Francois
