Another speeding motorist was killed around 17:45 hrs yesterday after he lost control of his CBR motorcycle in front of the Masjid located between the junction of Farm/ Herstelling, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
The rider, who was identified as fifty-one year old Oley Veidnere, a seaman of lot 1090 Diamond Housing Scheme, EBD, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.
According to a source, Veidnere was heading north along the western side of the Farm Public Road at a fast rate of speed when he lost control of his CBR (CF 2823) and “skidded off”.
Kaieteur News understands that Veidnere was approaching the turn between Farm and Herstelling, and the road being wet, as well as uneven, combined with his fast rate of speed, attributed to him losing control of his motor-cycle. Veidnere “skidded” a great distance away from his motorbike and by the time public spirited persons could assist, he was already said to be lifeless.
His wife, who was at the Providence Police Station, was visibly distraught and was at a loss for words upon learning of the death of her husband. She stated that Veidnere was supposed to “go out to sea” today and that she did not “expect something like this”.
A relative of the deceased said that when she arrived at the scene, she saw a black tundra parked with persons gathered around. One gentleman then started cursing her saying “Y’all gun pay fuh me f***ing vehicle”.
She said she did not pay him any attention, since her mind was already occupied, thinking about the tragedy that had just occurred.
Up to press time, police were investigating the accident, since more information about the black tundra was surfacing.
