Robert tell Guyana how he modernizing agriculture. Dem boys smile till dem see he give some farmers a cutlass, two seed and a wheel barrow. Then he talk bout modern facilities in de rice industry. Dem boys see some people playing cricket pun a concrete strip and when dem ask who build de cricket pitch dem hear how is a drying floor fuh rice farmers and how it worth $20 million. Dem boys get dumb wid shock.
Since when a strip of concrete can cost suh much? Is de same thing wid de sugar factory at Skeldon. Dem boys seh that de government and Robert call one figure but de factory got to cost less because it wukking wuss than de old one that ain’t even got value.
That is wha Robert call modern. Of course, dem boys seh that de only modern thing is how Robert does dress. He modern wid de extra cheese he does collect.
But is ancient excuse. Dem boys seh that he behaving just like old time. And old time he was a smart fella. He could sell anything because he tongue sweet. He could even sell brass fuh gold. That is how he selling de idea that everything is modern, right down to de money he calling fuh some project that ain’t worth a fraction of what dem seh that dem spend.
But dem boys seh that after one time is another.
Talk half. Lef half.
