A British citizen was early yesterday morning pulled off a flight at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, under suspicion that he had ingested pellets filled with cocaine.
This newspaper was told that the man was about to board a flight heading to London via Barbados when he was intercepted by ranks from the Police Narcotics Unit. The man was brought down to the Georgetown Public Hospital in the company of a police rank.
However, later yesterday afternoon an x-ray revealed that they were no cocaine pellets in the man’s stomach as was suspected by the law enforcement officers.
The man has since been released from police custody.
