The Bartica Police are currently investigating an accident that occurred around 7:30 hours, yesterday, at Second Street and Sixth Avenue, Bartica.
A yellow taxi HB 8380 driven by ex- Prison Officer Carl David and a motorcycle ridden by 36-year-old Gilmar Silva Santos a Brazilian national working at the Seventh Avenue workshop as welder/fabricator, collided.
Gilmar was on his way to work when bystanders alleged that the car struck him. He was then taken to the Bartica Public Hospital and then later was referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
This accident came on the heels of another that occurred on the streets of Bartica last Saturday Night when a popular grass track champion rider, Andrew Wong, was also hospitalized.
Then on Sunday evening a young mother had to grab her child from the path way of a Land Cruiser at the junction of First Avenue and Fourth Street. The driver on exiting the vehicle appeared to be under the influence. (Edward A Persaud)
