Among the teams vying for the top spot are Santos FC, Alpha United, the Guyana Defence Force, Camptown, Riddim Squad, Fruta Conquerors FC, Pele and the Western Tigers FC.
When activities get underway this afternoon at 18:00hrs, Camptown FC will tackle the GDF in the supporting match to the Alpha United/Santos FC feature attraction. Matches would also be played on Friday 26th and Sunday 28th before the grand finale scheduled for Sunday December 5.
The action on Friday will see Pele opposing Rhythm Squad in the supporting game to Western Tigers against Fruta Conquerors FC.
Meanwhile, the organizers received a timely boost towards the offsetting of expenses when the management of Star Party Rental of 37 Craig Street donated a lucrative package towards the success of the tournament. Secretary of the Western Tigers FC, Dexter Cush received the gift from Manager of Marketing (Star Party Rental), Kester Abrams on behalf of the organizers. He relayed his gratitude to the sponsors while assuring that the gift would go a far way in the promotion of the tournament and the development of the players. Mr. Abrams said that his company was pleased to render service towards the development of sports even as he pledged continued support.
Ansa McAl also donated a cheque worth $350,000 to the organizers. That sum would take care of the second third and fourth prizes. The organizers expressed sincere gratitude to the executive of the beverage company.
