– Barrow is Single’s champion
The Kashif and Shanghai (K&S) duo of Ray ‘Copter’ Anderson and Steven Barrow outclassed Guyana Fire Service’s (GFS) Warren Hackshaw and Quincy Rice to take the Guyana Bank of Trade and Industry (GBTI) Inter-Organisation Table Tennis Championship.
Barrow beat Hackshaw 11-9, 11-7, 5-11 and 11-9 while Anderson defeated Rice 8-11, 13-11, 11-7, 14-12 and 11-5 in the individual aspect of the Teams’ competition in the GBTI sponsored Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) event.
The K&S duo of Anderson and Barrow then teamed up to outclass GFS’s Rice and Hackshaw 11-8, 11-8 and 11-7 in the Doubles competition to seal the deal. Barrow defeated Anderson 6-11, 11-9, 11-2, 11-2 and 11-7 to claim the GBTI Singles’ title.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, President of the GTTA, Henry Greene said that he must compliment those organisations that took part in the competition because without them it would not have been possible to host the Championships.
“While I would like to see other teams participating, I am glad to see so many organisations participating.
We are grateful that they have come out and performed,” Greene indicated. Some 19 organisations participated in the three-day competition.
Grace Kennedy Remittance Services was adjudged best dressed team while GISA won the most disciplined team award.
Anderson got the most outstanding male player nod. He shared that prize with Barrow, who got K&S to the final of the competition.
