– K&S to oppose GFS for coveted GBTI title
The Kashif and Shanghai (K&S) and Guyana Fire Service (GFS) table tennis teams will go head to head today in a clash of the titans in the final of the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Inter-Organisation tournament at 9am at the National Gymnasium.
The K&S team of Ray Anderson and Steven Barrow will take on the GFS duo Warren Hackshaw and Quincy Rice for the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) title while Police Officer’s Mess ‘A’ team take on NP Electronics in the third place game.
Following the completion of the Inter-Organisation teams’ contest today, the GTTA will host the singles’ version at the same venue. Players who participated in the teams’ competition among the new entrants will play for individual supremacy.
The teams from last weekend were divided into six groups with the winner and runner-up in each group going through to the knock-out round of 16 and the third and fourth placed team in each of the groups playing for 9th to 16th consolation places.
Results from last weekend’s competition were as follows:
In Group One, Kashif and Shanghai (Ray Anderson and Steven Barrow) defeated Banks DIH (Kumarraj Thakur and Michael Benjamin) 3-0 and Guyana Revenue Authority (Gavin Low, Irvin Dey, Mark Persaud and Reishad Khan) 3-0 while Banks DIH defeated GRA 3-0.
In Group Two, Police Officers Mess ‘A’ (Gary Pratt, Henry Greene and Patrick Triumph) defeated Wartsila (Aaron Fraser, Neil Barry and Xavier Collymore) 3-0 and General Industry and Safety Supplies Enterprise ‘B’ (Benjamin Singh, Yadram Rajkumar and Sammy Budhu) 3-0 while Wartsila defeated the later 3-0.
In Group Three, GT&T ‘B’ (Ron Devonish, Bryan Yarris and Dexter Hyles) defeated Blue Thunder (Vernon Rodrigues and Timothy Cummings) 3-2 and Bank of Guyana (Imran Khan, Carlyne Bowen and Leonard Butcher) 3-0 while Blue Thunder defeated the Bank 3-1.
In Group Four, Grace Kennedy (Lisa Lewis, Ishaka Jackman and Pernel Cummings) defeated General Industry and Safety Supplies Enterprise ‘A’ (Balkisson, Ashraf Alli, Emran Ressack and Joseph Benjamin) 3-0 and Guysuco ‘A’ (Rishi Sookram and Pradeep Balram).
In Group Five, NP Electronics (Michael Vieira, Xen Goliah, Andre Lopes and Ryan Basdeo) defeated Officers Mess ‘B’ (Remy Taitt and Bruce Murray) 3-1, GT&T ‘A’ (Wayne St. Jules, Errol Farley and Kevin Grant) 3-0 and Chinese Embassy (Fan Yingjie, Tu Wei, Wang Defa and Gu Yuhua) 3-0. Officers Mess ‘B’ defeated GT&T ‘A’ 3-0 and Chinese Embassy 3-0. GT&T ‘A’ defeated Chinese Embassy 3-0.
In Group Six, Guyana Fire Service (Warren Hackshaw and Quincy Rice) defeated Guysuco ‘B’ (Floyd Conway, Desiree Lancaster and Brentol Richards) 3-1, Laparkan (Mooniram Persaud, Sahadeo Ramkiratth and Christopher Sahadeo) 3-2 and Guyana Police Force (Colin Boyce, Clifton Hickens and Patrick Peters) 3-0. Guysuco ‘B’ defeated Laparkan 3-1 and Police Force 3-0. Laparkan defeated Police 3-0.
