In an attempt to solidify the interest in the premium edification of Guyanese students, the Lions Club of Central Demerara in collaboration with Shamir Ally recently donated US$13,000 worth in books to the University of Guyana.
The presentations of these books were made at the University of Guyana, Turkeyen Campus.
According to Sharon Letlow, president of the Lions Club, the organization has been making contributions to the university for the past six years.
Letlow added that the books are “brand new” and suitable for all faculties.
The Lions club has been in existence for 42 years and has always worked to make positive contributions to society. “This is just another form of us doing so.”
She said that the club holds strongly to the belief that education is the key for a bright future.
The woman said that Ally is a former member of the Lions club who now resides abroad. His loyalty and love remain in Guyana thus his contributions for the last six years, Letlow said.
Letlow pledges the continuous support of the Lions Club.
