Thirty-two year-old Sandor Walcott of 137 Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara is a patient at the Male Surgical Ward after he sustained following an accident, which occurred last Wednesday.
Walcott, who is an Ambulance driver attached to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC), sustained lacerations to his face, a broken right arm and fractures to both legs.
According to Walcott, he was on duty when the accident occurred. He said that the vehicle crashed into the back of a truck when the brakes of the ambulance “seize up” in the vicinity of Conversation Tree, East Coast Demerara.
“I was driving going to Ogle, when I feel like de vehicle pulling towards de seawall. Ah try to mash brakes, but it would not work, so de vehicle slide and crash into de truck,” said Walcott.
Kaieteur News understands that there were also two attendants in the vehicle at the time, but they were treated at the hospital and sent away.
