Organiser disclose some plans
Cell phone Shack of North Road maintained their partnership with the Kashif and Shanghai football tournament, an association in its eight year.
Managing Director of the business entity, Christopher Low Koan, presented an undisclosed amount of cash, one of the MVP trophies and 15 cell phones to co-organiser Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major yesterday.
Low Koan said he was pleased to be associated with the tournament over the years and promised to continue their support.
Major informed that the phones will be used as giveaways to lucky fans and outstanding players.
Meanwhile, he informed that plans for the staging of the 21st edition of the year end extravaganza are running smoothly and there has been interest expressed by several new sponsors to be a part of the event.
He said that they are encouraging those potential sponsors to come on board, highlighting the additional costs to staging this year’s tournament due to the inclusion of overseas teams.
Major disclosed that at least two overseas teams will be included in the action this year, while they are in the process of securing the Boa Vista team from neighbouring Brazil for the opening night on December 12 at the National Stadium.
The Boa Vista team will face a National selection, while a supporting game will pit junior teams of Linden and Georgetown in action.
He noted that when selecting the overseas teams for the tournament they ensure that they are on the same level of the local clubs so there will be a level playing field in the battle for the championship.
