There were many angry students of the Charlestown Government Secondary School who voiced their disapproval ,in the school’s compound, as a result of the “spoiled” food they were given in exchange of $500.
Kaieteur News understands that several students of the school fell ill after they ate the food served at a take-away-lunch held at the school in aid of their “furniture drive”. Two were hospitalized with abdominal pains and vomiting.
According to some students of Charlestown Secondary, the food that caused medical discomfort was prepared by the cleaner and some parents in the Home Economics room, since it was a parents and school collaboration.
Fourteen-year-old Atisha Daly and 13-year-old Tandica Bailey were the two students at the hospital when Kaieteur News visited. According to the students they have been suffering from belly pain and vomiting since they ate the food.
One of the affected students told this publication that when she approached her class teacher to complain about the food one teacher responded, “What you feel it is at all? No teacher ain’t prepare it so don’t come to me”.
All attempts to speak with the head teacher were in vain. A teacher, who was hostile to the press, said, “Write whatever you want”.
