Ten-month-old Amayah Lopes of Lot 209 Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke/Linden Highway was diagnosed with a heart problem which can be detrimental in the long run. Sheneise Lopes, mother of the ailing child, is seeking financial assistance from the public to aid in the payment of the surgery.
Lopes, who has been living with medical troubles of the heart for almost all her life, is now at the stage where the possibility of her having prolonged life depends entirely on undergoing an Urgent heart surgery.
A medical report produced by Amayah Lopes indicates that the infant was, at six months, found to have a serious heart condition.
According to the report, a subsequent echocardiogram confirmed that the infant has a non-restrictive perimembranous Ventricle Septal Defect (hole in the heart) with a large left to right Shunt.
The report further stated that Amayah has been suffering from frequent tract infections and recurrent shortness of breath.
According to the distraught mother, the infant no longer gains weight but keeps getting taller. She added that when ever the infant plays for a while she would normally become “short of breath”.
The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation GPHC has recommended that the infant urgently undergo surgery. Unfortunately, this type of surgery is not offered in Guyana.
Sheneise Lopes is now soliciting funds from the public to assist her in doing everything possible to save her only child’s life.
According to the worried mother, she has made several attempts to obtain assistance from the Ministry of Health however nothing has yet materialized.
Persons interested in making a contribution of any amount can contact Sheneise Lopes on 661-4527 or Andray Welcome on 694-2554/228-5147 or make a direct contribution to Republic bank account # 267-282-2 or Scotia Bank account # 10013366.
The sadden mother made it apparent that contributions of any amount will be highly appreciated.
