Impressed by the constant rise and consistency of Guyana’s ‘Lady Jaguars’ former junior and senior National players Stephen Budhu felt that he needed to reward the National High Achievers with something that will help them attain higher heights for Guyana.
Budhu, Chairman/CEO of Mistenden Soccer, a New York based entity, decided that he would outfit the ladies with football boots for the Women’s World Cup Qualifying (CONCACAF Gold Cup) which kicked off yesterday in Cancun, Mexico.
Budhu, traveled to the pre-tournament camp the ‘Lady Jags’ held in Florida last week to hand over the boots to the players as well as the Technical staff and officials on the team.
He also presented the team with 16 FIFA approved balls and an Official FIFA World Cup Jubilani ball.
Budhu commented: “It is indeed a great privilege and honour for me to present these players and officials with these items. They have done Guyana proud and have earned the respect of thousands of fans in the Diaspora with the way they have played and the heights to which they have come.
It is no ordinary feat in qualifying for this stage of the World Cup journey and this is just my way of saying to these ladies, thank you for making us proud.”
“My desire is for others to emulate these ladies and the commitment they have shown in playing their hearts out for their country. I also hope that their performances over the past months will help to motivate and inspire those young women back in Guyana and that their achievements would result in more being done for female football back home.”
Budhu also stated that he wanted the team to experience the thrill of having quality shoes for this competition. “These boots were custom made for the entire team since these players are special gems of Guyana and deserve special treatment.”
