The Cummings Lodge Policing Group (CPC) hosted a dental outreach programme for the residents of Cummings Lodge, Industry and Ogle. The programme which started on Saturday, last, was held at Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara.
Chairman of the CPC, Mohamed Khan told Kaieteur News that the organisation, which was formed last year, caters for the needs and security of the residents and their environs. To date the group has 61 members.
According to Khan, the dental outreach programme is one of the many activities, which the group has to offer.
The dentists performed extractions, cleaning, fillings and even made referrals to the Cheddi Jagan Dental School (CJDS). The Ministry of Health performed blood pressure testing and early screening for diabetes. The Ministry also conducted an HIV awareness workshop to edify members of the community.
Khan said that the programme is sponsored mainly by the business society within their community coupled with the policing group. He noted that this event was assisted by dentists from the CJDS and the Ministry of Health.
Khan said that the group recently did a road project through the Ministry of Public Works.
He said that the organisation plans to build a playfield for the youths and an outpost for its members, as soon they get permission from the Mayor and City Council for the requested land.
